Cookie & Tracking Policy

What we store on your device, and how we measure engagement.

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on neurobiome.org, and how we track engagement with our emails. It is part of our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let a site remember things like whether you are signed in. "Similar technologies" include things like local storage and tracking pixels.

2. The cookies we use

We do not sell your data. We do use advertising and analytics technologies to measure our campaigns and understand how the site is used — these are listed in section 4. The cookies and similar technologies we set are:

Strictly necessary

Session / sign-in. After you click your magic-link, we set a secure session cookie so you stay signed in and can use your account, tracker, and Pro features. Without it, sign-in does not work.
Security. Tokens used to protect forms and requests against cross-site attacks.

Set by our infrastructure providers

Cloudflare. Our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) may set essential cookies such as __cf_bm to tell humans from bots and keep the site secure. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Stripe. If you visit a payment page, Stripe may set cookies needed to process payment securely and prevent fraud.

3. Email open & click tracking

When we send email through Twilio SendGrid, we may include a small pixel and wrapped links that tell us whether a message was opened and which links were clicked. We use this only to understand what's useful and to improve what we send — not to build advertising profiles. Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

4. Advertising & analytics

We use the following measurement technologies on this site:

Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics — page views, sessions, and general location at city/region level.
Meta (Facebook & Instagram) pixel — measures whether our ads work and lets us reach people who have visited this site.
Reddit pixel — the same measurement purpose for Reddit campaigns.
OpenAI advertising measurement — conversion measurement for OpenAI-served ads.
First-party Flore analytics — records how you arrived (referring URL, campaign tags) and which pages you visited, so we can understand which of our own properties sent you here. This is our own analytics, not a third-party ad network.

No quiz responses, symptom answers, or health information are transmitted to any advertising partner. You can opt out of sale/sharing at any time by emailing [email protected].

5. "Do Not Track"

Because we do not track you across other websites for advertising, there is nothing to change in response to a browser "Do Not Track" signal. We honor recognized opt-out preference signals where the law requires.

6. Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Note that blocking the strictly-necessary session cookie will prevent you from signing in and using your account. Guides: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.

7. Changes

We will update this policy if our use of cookies or tracking changes, and we will change the "Last updated" date above.
